"The meaning and necessity of all [our] prayer...
is that of imitating the praying Christ, who would relate to the Father through prayer in order to fulfill every detail of His will. For this reason, all of the apostolic activity should flow from the daily prayer."
Each day begins with half an hour of silent Adoration as we enter into prayer and reflection on the plans God may have for us this day.
Our activity is nourished by silence and prayer; the Office of Readings, Morning Prayer, Evening Prayer, the Meditated Rosary, and daily Mass are prayed together with the community and are the bedrock of our routine. (Daytime Prayer and Night Prayer are prayed privately; we also have daily time for personal prayer and occasional personal and community retreats.)
The friaries include a cloistered area which only the friars may enter; likewise, the sisters' convents include a cloistered area which only the nuns may enter. Within these areas we strive to maintain silence and an atmosphere of prayer, study, and silent work.
With this timetable, we don't have to be like the hypocritical Pharisees (cf. Mark 2:27-28),
but, as it is part of our cross, let's strive for what we are able to do and not neglect it,
-Except in the cases of missions, evangelization or retreat.-
All for the greater glory of God and the Salvation of the most souls possible, for this is the aim and the eternal Crown of our Faith! (cf. 1 Pet 1:9)
Amen!
