On July 19-25, 2024, the Little Friars and Little Nuns were invited to a weekend/week-long ECHO retreat to give witness to the young adults and High School teens who attended.
Young adults, teens, staff, and leaders started off each day praying Morning Prayer all together and, in the evenings, gathered for daily Mass in the main Chapel. They also had the opportunity every day to take some time in silence for personal prayer in the little chapel and confession.
The talks, based upon Pope St. John Paul II’s teaching on Theology of the Body, were really impactful and inspirational. Even as religious, it was a great experience for us to learn more deeply of the Catholic Church’s viewpoint of the human body, etc.
It was beautiful seeing the young adults and teens gather a few times a day in small “family groups” which helped them reach the point of confidently opening up their heart to share with each other, at a more personal level, what struck them during a talk, highlights of their day, how God spoke to them, etc.
To summarize it all, it’s an awesome way for young adults and teens to deepen their knowledge of Theology of the Body, experience communal excitement of the Catholic faith, and simply to have fun in a beautiful environment.
