On Saturday, October 3, the Little Friars and Little Nuns of Jesus and Mary participated in a Eucharistic Procession along Bayou Lafourche in Louisiana.
The day began in Golden Meadow, Louisiana with Mass in French, to celebrate the Cajun culture. Here, the Eucharist was consecrated and placed in the monstrance.
From the church, the Eucharist was processed onto a boat along with the clergy. The sisters and a keyboard player boarded another boat to provide hymns along the route of the procession.
Upon disembarking from the boat in Larose, the Eucharist was processed onto an outdoor altar for a moment of prayer before being boarded onto the back of an antique fire truck.
Vehicles followed the fire truck in procession, stopping for brief moments of prayer at three churches along the way.
In Thibodaux, the Eucharist was taken off the fire truck at the tomb of Fr. Menard, who founded many of the churches in the diocese. From there, the Blessed Sacrament was processed by foot to the church of St. Thomas Aquinas on the campus of Nicholls State University.
An outdoor altar was prepared at the church, and the faithful gathered for midafternoon prayer and final benediction.
